Your bookmarks, turned into
an AI-searchable knowledge base

CollectMind organizes what you save, summarizes it automatically, and lets you chat with a single page, a whole topic, or your entire collection — powered entirely by the AI already built into Chrome.

Free & open source · MIT licensed · Chrome 138+

Runs entirely on your device.

Summarization, search, and chat all run on Chrome's built-in Gemini Nano and a local embedding model — there's no backend server, no API key, and no account required. Your bookmarks, page content, and chat history never leave your machine. The one deliberate exception is backup: if you choose to back up to Google Drive, it goes straight from your browser to your own Drive — CollectMind has no server in between and never sees it. Features

Everything you need to actually use what you save

Bookmarking is easy. Finding it again — and remembering why you saved it — is the hard part.

01

Organize by topic

Group saved pages into topics instead of one long, unsearchable bookmarks list.

02

One-click save

Bookmark the page you're on with a single click, right from the side panel.

03

Automatic summaries

Every saved page gets summarized on-device the moment it's added — no waiting, no setup.

04

Chat with a topic (RAG)

Ask questions about a topic and get answers grounded in your saved pages, with clickable source citations.

05

Chat with any page

Ask about the page you're currently reading, even before you decide to save it.

06

Ask your whole collection

"Library" mode searches every topic at once — no more remembering which topic you filed something under.

07

Auto-updated topic summaries

Topic-level overviews stay fresh automatically as you add more pages.

08

Backup & restore

Save snapshots locally or to your own Google Drive, and restore any of them, any time.

How it works

No server. No API key. No account.

CollectMind runs entirely on Chrome's built-in AI plus a small local embedding model — nothing is sent to a server.

Summarizing & chatting

Chrome's built-in Gemini Nano

The Summarizer and Prompt APIs — running on-device, inside Chrome itself — handle page summaries and conversational answers.

Retrieval

Local RAG, in a background worker

Saved pages are split into chunks and embedded locally with a small model (Xenova/multilingual-e5-small). When you chat, only the most relevant chunks are retrieved and fed to the model, instead of stuffing every saved page into the prompt.

Storage

Everything stays in your browser

Topics, pages, chat history, and the search index all live in IndexedDB, on your machine — check indexing status and rebuild it any time from Settings.

Before you install: CollectMind's AI features rely on Chrome's built-in AI, so you'll need Chrome 138+ and a device that meets the on-device model's real hardware requirements: ≥22GB free disk space, plus either a GPU with >4GB VRAM or 16GB+ RAM and 4+ CPU cores. See the README for details and troubleshooting.

Stop losing what you save
